Due to this, there are different types of WordPress drafts that you might have stored on your WordPress page or site.
1. Editing Draft—A WordPress draft is in the creation process when the content is typed or added to the file, but the final editing is yet to be done. After that, to retrieve it for some editing or work, you can access it in the post or the pages menu. While placing the cursor on it, click on the “edit” option. From there, you can start working on your drafted project.
2. Creating Draft- Before creating a draft on your webpage, you must create a draft. You can do this by going to the website dashboard, where you will see a “create a post” option and where you can type in your content. Once you are done typing, click on the “draft” option rather than the “publishing option.”
3. Previewing Draft – This type of draft in WordPress allows you to preview your draft. You can check if everything on your WordPress website is good to go with or if you need to edit something more. While also providing the chance to view how your website will look after its publishing.
4. Publishing Draft—This draft is ready to be published but doesn’t consider traffic and SEO. Here, this draft is already to be the released post on the WordPress site. You need to click on the “publish” option to publish now or after some time, and then you can also click on the “schedule” option; this way, it will automatically publish, turning into a released post.
These are the types of drafts available in WordPress, which are sooner or later converted into released posts. Sometimes, it is difficult for a person to find their drafted post on the WordPress site, which can lead to frustration.
Often, people get confused when locating drafts in WordPress, but why? It might be because they are looking in the wrong place. Below are some common reasons you might not be able to locate your draft in WordPress.
1. Search for Drafts- When many drafts are stored in WordPress, finding the right required draft can be tricky. But now, you can easily do that by inserting the name of the draft file in the search bar at the top. You can find this in “All Posts” or “All Pages.”
2. Check the trash files—There is a huge possibility that the mistakenly drafted file was sent to the trash bin. You must check it, and you can do this by going to the dashboard. There, you can see the “trash” option in the “pages” or “post” options. Click on it, check if it is there, and restore it.
3.Check your posts/pages—If the above two options are not working, look into your pages or post area and see if you haven’t saved your drafted project there and with another name.
4. Check out the Draft Status—One possible thing is to check in your draft area. The chances are also higher that your drafted file is saved with the wrong name or its drafting status is pending, that is, a publishing, editing, previewing, or crafting draft. So, check the status of your draft so you can easily find your required draft.
You can also check your draft status by looking at the right side of the blog near the “publish” button.
5. Browsing Cache—WordPress sometimes does not work due to excessive browsing cache. So, to bring its speed back, you are required to minimize or remove them if possible. After that, you are supposed to refresh your page, where all the drafts will be visible again.
These might be the common reasons why you are unable to find your drafted project. If you have still not found it, you can follow the steps mentioned below to find your draft on your WordPress site.
If you cannot locate your drafted project in WordPress, follow up for the direct steps so that you can reach out to your project and soon change its status without any problem.
1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard—Log in to your WordPress site and navigate to the dashboard.
2. Click on the “Pages/Post” option on your WordPress dashboard's left side. However, choosing the “Page” or “Post” option depends on the type of your draft. If it is a blog, then click on the “post” or the “page” for a static page draft.
3. Once you are there, Post/Page, click on “All Page/Post.”
4. You will view the list of all blogs/pages, but now you need to filter it by clicking on the “filter post.” Along with this, you will also see “draft”.
5. Clicking on it lets you view all the drafts available. Now, “filter the draft” depending upon its status.
6. Now that you have filtered the required draft. You will be presented with the draft you are interested in. Click on it if you wish to “edit” or wish to directly “Publish.”
